During the spring and summer holiday, we offer a study abroad program for our regular students.  Tucked away in the quiet countryside of Oregon, we have a sister school that runs a summer camp for children of all ages.  The students are welcome to come and stay for a few weeks, share with the local culture, learn about nature, and discover a bit about themselves.

We start here in Japan, where we prepare the children over several weeks for the journey.  This will most likely be the first time they spend more than a day away from immediate family.  We want the children to feel safe and secure on their trip, so we talk about our feelings, play games and activities that build rapport, and help the children get mentally ready for this adventure.

When in America, the kids will be able to use all the skills they have learned back here in Japan.  This is a strictly English environment, so those students who have learned English solely through our school will now have the opportunity to use it in a real situation.  They will also use the other communication tools, motor skills, and other abilities they have cultivated while attending Hayama International School.

The camp will expose your child to a whole new world of nature and adventure.  They will see, hear, and touch different plants and animals.  They can ride horses, feed farm animals, and seek out little animals in the hillside.  The children will also do fun things indoors like making pizza or playing traditional American games.

While in Oregon, they will stay with a host family.  The host family will treat your child as a member of the family.  This is a good opportunity for the children to experience the lives of others.  It will also be a time for growth, as the child will engage in family functions, play games, help with cooking and cleaning, and learn about the family’s heritage.

Condition

Basically this program is for Hayama International School students.
The child above Junior Kindergarten class and who are able to speak English.

Accompany

The staff of Hayama International School will go with your child.

Term

2 weeks in Spring
3 weeks in Summer
We also accept the study abroad program in Oregon.
The child can stay at Oregon for 3 months at the maximum.
